No jargon. No surprises. Just a straightforward process that respects your time and delivers results.

From First Chat to Final Launch — Here's How We'll Work Together

Every great website starts with a conversation. I've refined my process over years of working with established businesses across Lancashire and beyond, and it's designed to be as efficient and transparent as possible. You'll always know where we are, what's happening next, and exactly what's expected of you (spoiler: it's less than you think).

The Steps

1. The Initial Chat
2. Discovery & Research
3. Content & Copywriting
4. Your Live Preview
5. Review & Revisions
6. Launch & Handover
7. Support & Maintenance
2. Discovery & Research

This is where we dig deeper. We'll look at websites that inspire you, examine what your competitors are doing (and where they're falling short), and identify opportunities to make your site stand out. I'll research your sector, your audience, and the keywords that matter most to your business.

This stage is crucial — it's the foundation that everything else is built on. Getting it right here means fewer revisions later and a website that's genuinely fit for purpose from day one.

What you'll need: Examples of sites you admire, your brand guidelines or logo files (if you have them), and any imagery or content you'd like to include.

1. The Initial Chat — Free Consultation

It all starts with a relaxed, no-obligation conversation. We'll talk about your business, your goals, and what you need your website to actually do for you. Whether that's generating enquiries, showcasing your portfolio, or selling products — I need to understand the purpose before I touch a single pixel.

By the end of this chat, I'll send you a clear summary of what we've discussed, the agreed scope, and a transparent quote. No hidden fees, no nasty surprises down the line.

What you'll need: Just your time and your ideas. I'll guide the rest.

Typical duration: 30–60 minutes

7. Ongoing Support & Maintenance

Your website isn't a "set and forget" project. I offer ongoing maintenance and support packages to keep everything running smoothly — from security updates and backups to content changes and performance monitoring. Think of me as your long-term web partner, not just a one-off designer.

What you'll need: Peace of mind knowing someone's got your back.

6. Launch & Handover

If you've got your own content ready, brilliant — I'll review it and suggest any tweaks to make it work harder for SEO. If you'd rather I handle the copywriting, I'll craft every word with search engines and real people in mind.

I'll send the plain-text copy across for your review before any build work begins. That way, you can focus on the message without being distracted by colours and layouts. Once you're happy with what it says, we move on to bringing it to life.

What you'll need: Approval on the final copy — or trust me to write it for you.

3. Content & Copywriting

We'll walk through the staging site together — ideally on a call so I can talk you through the thinking behind each decision, from layout structure to how the user journey flows. You'll experience it as your customers will, and we'll refine anything that doesn't feel right.

Because it's a real, working build, you can test interactions, check how it responds on different devices, and flag specific things with precision rather than guessing from a flat image. I don't limit revisions with arbitrary caps — we work together until it's right.

What you'll need: Your honest feedback. This is your site; I want you to feel proud of it.

4. Build on Staging — Your Live Preview

No static mock-ups or flat designs here. I build your website directly as a fully interactive, working site on a private staging environment. You'll be able to click through every page, test it on your phone, and experience exactly how your finished site will look and feel — because it is the finished site, just not public yet.

This approach means there's no disconnect between what you're shown and what you'll get. What you see on staging is what goes live.

What you'll need: A device and a cuppa. Then tell me what you think.

5. Review & Revisions

Once you've signed off the staging site, we go live. I handle all the technical work — hosting, SSL certificates, domain configuration, accessibility checks — so you don't have to worry about any of it.

I'll provide personalised 1-to-1 training on your CMS so you feel confident making basic updates yourself, and I'll be on hand for any questions in those first few weeks.

What you'll need: A celebratory brew. You've earned it.
